Of course you can do things to ensure that they have some shelf life (creating your own content to go with stories, digg&#039;ing, re-tweeting, posting in reputation communities), but it&#039;s still a lot different in what I like to call the 1,440-minute news cycle - which was spawned by the Internet, taken further with blogs and solidified with social media platforms...</description>

		<description>Great post: it provides hard evidence on why certain audiences learn toward particular social media, and, perhaps more importantly, offers a stepping stone on where to begin when it comes to getting a story on the radar.

One thought on why technology news (or even news in general) doesn&#039;t remain on the radar for as long, though: with Twitter especially, there is so much going on not only due to the sheer number of users, but also because of how easy it is to share new information.  That, coupled with how quickly technology evolves in various industries, makes it difficult to score a slot on the trending topics ticker - unless, of course, you&#039;re talking about the latest iPhone or something of similar techie magnitude...</description>
