Yahoo! is planning to debut its home page this week, months earlier then the company expected. According to The Wall Street Journal’s Jessica Vascellaro, the new home page will feature a “favorites” menu on the left side of that page that users can customize with applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Digg.com, and news sites like the New York Times. The home page will also have a heavy focus on news which is located in the middle of the page.
With this new site design, Yahoo! hopes to maintain its market share which has begun to shrink . Since August 2008 Yahoo! has seen its market share drop by over two percent while Google has increased its market share by over two percent and Bing has captured over five percent of the market (over the last two months).
